AREA OF RESEARCH
Matthew’s research focuses on understanding the neurophysiologic mechanisms of activity-related breathlessness in various chronic respiratory conditions, including COPD, IPF, and post-PE syndrome. He employs a variety of innovative techniques during cardiopulmonary exercise testing to assess the inspiratory neural drive to breathe and dynamic respiratory mechanics, and determine their relation to breathlessness in these patients.
