Dr. Andy Pan, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Pan is a Clinical Researcher with the Institut du Savoir Montfort. He completed his medical education at the University of Ottawa and continued on there with a residency in Emergency Medicine and fellowship in Critical Care Medicine. He is dual certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in both specialties. He is also an Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and an Attending Physician at L’Hôpital Montfort with the Division of Critical Care Medicine and at The Ottawa Hospital in the Department of Emergency Medicine. In addition to in-hospital clinical work, Dr. Pan is a Transport Medicine Physician with Ontario’s air ambulance service (Ornge) and serves as the Critical Care Advisor to their Medical Advisory Committee.
His areas of interest and research include simulation-based medical education, critical care transport, and early management of critically-ill patients. His current projects include using 3D printing for medical simulation, emergency physicians’ ability to adequately landmark the cricothyroid membrane, and critical care transport of chest pain patients. He is the lead author on the Transport and Disposition chapter of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada’s e-book Navigating Medical Emergencies.
His teaching interests are in the areas of airway management and mechanical ventilation.
