Dr. Catherine Varner is an emergency physician and clinician scientist at Mount Sinai Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine. She is a nationally regarded expert in emergency department pregnancy care and is a recognized leader in policy, education and advocacy for maternal health in Canada.

Dr. Catherine Varner is the Deputy Director and a Clinician Scientist at the Schwartz/Reisman Emergency Medicine Institute, based at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. She was the co-chair of the Health Quality Ontario Standards for Early Pregnancy Complications and Loss and is the founder of the Canadian Early Pregnancy Consortium. She is also Deputy Editor of the Canadian Medical Association Journal.
