AREA OF RESEARCH

Dr. Leis is the Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre where he leads a research program focused on improving safety of healthcare delivery by lowering the risk of healthcare associated infection.

MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO SCIENCE AND/OR HEALTH CARE DELIVER

Contributions to health care delivery have included leveraging technology to more reliably measure and improve hand hygiene performance, supporting best practices to prevent outbreaks, promoting use of judicious use of culture specimens and antibiotics, evaluating the impact of different surveillance methods and personal protective equipment, and seeking to improve safety of residents of long-term care and other congregate living settings.
