AREA OF RESEARCH
Dr. Sheehan’s clinical and research activities focus on improving quality of care for individuals with co-occurring mental and physical health issues, particularly in the areas of delirium and stroke, as well as healthcare worker well-being. Her research has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, University of Toronto, and MSH-UHN Academic Medical Organization
MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO SCIENCE AND/OR HEALTH CARE DELIVER
Dr. Sheehan advocates for system-wide improvement in the integration of physical and mental health care through clinical program development and evaluation, research, and medical and public education. She has presented and published widely on these initiatives, with the goal of impacting care nationally and internationally. She is Vice President of the Canadian Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, co-lead of the Extension of Community Health Outcomes (ECHO) Integrated Mental and Physical Health Care program funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health, and has been involved with the development of delirium care guidance with Ontario Health’s Delirium Quality Standard and the Regional Geriatric Program of Toronto.
