Dr. Pete Wegier
Dr. Pete Wegier is a medical decision scientist at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, Sinai Health System and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family & Community Medicine, University of Toronto. Dr. Wegier’s research interests concern medical decision making—focusing on the effective communication of information to both patients and physicians to improve understanding in medical choices.
He co-leads HOMR, an automated, big data driven system for the earlier identification of patients who may benefit from a palliative approach to care. He also designs interactive patient decision aids to improve illness understanding in patients; studies how healthcare teams collaborate in distributed settings via online communication platforms; and uses data visualization for the effective communication of quantitative information in healthcare.
