Dr. Painter’s research interests include evidence based children’s mental health care delivery, medical education, and assessment and management of neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood. He also has specialized training in treatment of severe personality disorders.
MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO SCIENCE AND/OR HEALTH CARE DELIVERY
Dr. Painter is keenly vested in teaching the next generation of health care providers to ensure ongoing optimal health care delivery in northern Ontario. He was the recipient of Supervisor of the Year in Undergraduate Education in the Department of Psychiatry from Western University in 2020 and the PARO Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award in 2022. He actively involves residents with his research, including his current project “Transforming the delivery of child and adolescent mental health care in Northern Ontario: A comprehensive, multidisciplinary shared care model”. This model has reshaped inpatient children’s mental health care in North Bay, Ontario.
