AREA OF RESEARCH

As a rural physician, my areas of research reflect the generalist scope of my practice. Research initiatives include: northern obstetrical care, diabetes, emergency department utilization, chronic kidney disease, obesity, antibiotic use and public health programming.

MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO SCIENCE AND/OR HEALTH CARE DELIVERY

I have worked in primary and community medicine for over 30 years. The past 20 years have been in Sioux Lookout and neighbouring remote fly-in First Nations communities. I have completed 2 qualitative cross cultural studies exploring perspective on menopause by First Nations women and more recently a respectfull study of recovery from opioid use by members of a remote FN community. I continue to work in a cross cultural setting providing in patient care at the Meno Ya Win Health Centre and the William George Extended Care Unit.
