AREA OF RESEARCH
My research focuses on pain education for patient and I have developed a series of patient facing educational modules designed to support chronic pain self-management. I also have an interest in the factors that contribute to the development of chronic pelvic pain, as well as novel therapeutic approaches for pelvic pain.
MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO SCIENCE AND/OR HEALTH CARE DELIVERY
I am the inaugural Medical Director of the Toronto Academic Pain Medicine Institute and the Co-Chair of the Ministry of Health, Ontario Chronic Pain Network. Under my stewardship for the last 5 years, the TAPMI program referral volumes have tripled. Our program is projected to receive over 7000 chronic pain referrals in 2023, making us the largest pain program in the world. My governance has allowed our interprofessional team to deliver cutting-edge interventions in pain management. The TAPMI program model has been highlighted for national and international dissemination in Alberta, BC, Quebec and Australia.
