AREA OF RESEARCH
Dr Flaxman’s research interests include the use of 3D patient specific anatomical models for surgical planning, the use of 3D motion capture in surgical education, understanding the impact of pain has on physical function, and advancing ultrasound imaging techniques for diagnosing and monitoring uterine fibroids and endometriosis. Her skills include primary data collection from human participants, bio signal data processing, clinical epidemiology study design and statistics, and translational research methods.

Dr Flaxman is a Senior Clinical Research Associate at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa, Department of Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics. Dr Flaxman received her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences, specializing in human biomechanics, at the University of Ottawa in 2017. She has authored or co-authored 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is leading the team at The Ottawa Hospital in Canada’s first 3D modelling and advanced visualization program for clinical care in Women’s Health.
